Michelle Rasidescu

Psychotherapist, BA

Hi, I’m Michelle, a counsellor at Resilient Health. I provide individual therapy for people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, and major life changes. My approach is grounded, flexible, and centred on building a strong therapeutic relationship—I believe that connection is the backbone of meaningful healing.

I was drawn to counselling because I love listening, understanding, and supporting people through difficult moments. Early in my training and practice I saw how powerful relationship-building is for recovery, and I continue to be inspired by the resilience people show. Watching clients create real, lasting change convinced me that this was the right career.

Professionally, I’ve worked across intensive hospital psychiatry, residential addiction treatment, and community outreach. That variety taught me to adapt my approach to each person’s needs. Whether someone benefits from a structured modality like CBT or CPT, or prefers a more conversational, client-centred process, I meet them where they are. I’m fluent in English, French, and Romanian, which helps me connect with clients from different backgrounds. I bring a calm, approachable presence to sessions and, when it fits, a touch of humour—because joy and levity can be important parts of healing.

One of my proudest achievements was developing and leading an addictions committee at the Montreal Mental Health University Institute. We focused on staff training for co-occurring mental health and substance-use issues and ran therapeutic groups for clients. The service improved staff confidence and gave clients practical tools to manage complexity and feel supported. I also feel deeply gratified when former clients check in to say they’re doing well—that kind of feedback reminds me of the real impact therapy can have.

My core values are collaboration, respect, and authenticity. I see clients as the experts in their own lives; my role is to provide a supportive, non-judgemental space where we work together toward goals that matter to them. Working with people facing complex and persistent difficulties can be humbling. I’ve learned to accept that progress isn’t always linear and to prioritise patience, self-reflection, and ongoing learning.

Outside of work I love exploring the outdoors here in Victoria—hiking and long walks help me recharge. I’m a big fan of Dungeons & Dragons (my longest campaign ran for over two years), enjoy embroidery as a creative outlet, and I happily accept all the animal therapy my cat Penny offers.

I completed a Bachelor’s in Psychology at McGill University and I’m currently working toward a Master’s in Counselling Psychology at the University of Lethbridge. My varied clinical experience has reinforced a person-centred, evidence-informed approach: meet clients where they are, collaborate on clear goals, and use the tools that best support lasting change.

If there’s one thing I want readers to take away, it’s that therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating. My aim is to create a welcoming, supportive environment—warm and light where it can be—so you feel safe to do the hard work and also notice the small gains along the way. I’m ready to walk alongside you toward the life you want.
