When I was expecting my first child, I became fascinated by how children’s brains develop and the factors that influence that development, both positively and negatively. Supporting positive growth in children has always been important to me, which led me to pursue a BA in Child and Youth Care in 1999.
After graduating, I began working as a Child and Family Counsellor with children under 12 and their families. For over a decade, I worked with families facing complex challenges, helping them navigate difficult circumstances. Ten years into my career, I transitioned to a new agency while also developing a private practice to support individuals in their personal growth.
Wanting to deepen my understanding of how people heal from trauma, I earned a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. Today, I work exclusively with adults who are ready to heal from past trauma, reduce anxiety, and thrive.
I am passionate about helping people discover their innate strengths and resources to redefine themselves and move past their experiences. My approach is warm, authentic, and compassionate, and I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where people can pause, reflect, and set a new course for themselves.
I work from a person-centred, strength-based, feminist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed perspective. By integrating evidence-based modalities such as Solution-focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I tailor sessions to meet the needs and goals of each client.
Healing often begins in the telling of one’s story, so I also work with individuals to increase self-awareness, uncover strengths and abilities, build a sense of well-being, and develop new skills to address future challenges.
As a single parent, I am proud to have achieved both a BA in Child and Youth Care (with Honours) and a Master’s degree while raising two amazing daughters. They’ve travelled the world but returned home to Victoria, where they’ve become not only my greatest achievements but also my closest friends.
Outside of work, I practise yoga and mindfulness, enjoy gourmet cooking, and am an avid reader. I find peace on the water while kayaking or hiking gently through the forest. Staying grounded is important to me, so I ensure regular clinical supervision, maintain peer connections, and create opportunities for socialising.
The most rewarding part of my work is witnessing people make lasting positive changes in their lives. I believe that each person is on a unique journey and that life’s challenges present opportunities for personal growth. It’s an honour to walk alongside my clients as they navigate these waters.
While I’ve worked with highly complex mental health issues in the past, I now focus on supporting individuals with manageable challenges who are ready to implement positive change in their lives.
My goal is to help people heal from their pasts so that they can live happier lives and replace unhelpful intergenerational patterns with healthier ones.
